Oh lord they're comin...

Things are getting weird out there but in here we are chillin, smilin, havin fun!

I got sick. And then I got better! Then I got sick with a different thing again. I’m begging science, can you please release the seasonal covid and flu vaccines faster? This is the second August/September that I’ve gotten sick right before I could get vaccinated. I’ve had enough!!

En has been taking care of me, though, and I’m pounding orange juice and dayquil. Today I’ve been taking it easy by doing mundane stuff like taxes, emails, contracts, SEO, backing up files. The first time I was sick, I couldn’t rally to do anything, but this cold seems a little more gentle. Fortunately, my doctor prescribed me with a covid vaccine so I’m going to get that and the flu shot done anyway this week. It was really easy to write my doctor a message on MyChart and get it done! If you live in a state that requires a prescription for the covid vaccine, I recommend just emailing/messaging/calling your doctor. They’ll get it for you so fast.

One more show for 2025!

Rose City Comic Con was a blast, and I wrote about it a bit in my blog. It’s not super heavy on the con diagnostics this year because I love my friends and I just wanted to write about how much fun I had with my friends. If you are curious, I did the same this year as I did last year, and that’s been more or less true for all my shows this year.

I still have one final convention to do: New York Comic Con! I’ve never done NYCC before. It’s so big, and I’m a little intimidated. Come cheer me on and spend time with me and En at C-43 in artist alley. We’ll be next to Misha and MK <3

Don’t worry, Portland, I’ll be back before the holidays at the Portland Zine Symposium. I’ll be at PSU’s Ballroom on Sunday November 9. (Remember! There are different tablers on November 8, so make sure you come both days.)

The Shepherd’s Sword

Pre-orders have been shipped! You’ll start getting your copies of The Shepherd’s Sword Volume 1 so soon. Thank you to everyone who pre-ordered a copy. Please post pics when you get them! Shout out to White Squirrel for being amazing for this campaign and fulfillment.

Right now on the website, theshepherdssword.com, I’ve been posting the bonus art from my friends that you can find in the back of the print copy. I needed a little extra buffer time after a really busy July. But you can read the next five pages right now on Patreon!

I’m having the most fun drawing this chapter. It’s gross. The current chapter (Chapter 6: Ivy) is a flashback chapter featuring Nieve on her first ever adventuring mission to get some ingredients for the witches in the city. I think it will turn out normal and fine and Shep will be so happy and proud of her. Maybe?

September Patreon Rewards

Available only September 2025!! The mini print is this candy color stampede of charming, fat neolithic horses. It’s originally inspired from a page I made when I led the zine workshop at Flame Con.

Traditional tattoo style drawing of a flame point siamese cat

And the sticker? It’s Peepee! She’s our flame point cat, and we just celebrated our third year anniversary with her. I always look for flame point stuff, but it’s kind of rare to find. I’m also noodling with ideas of how to draw her for a tattoo in the future. Join the mail club by September 30th and I’ll send you these!

Foreshadowing… Another tortured Wayne for you this month. Uncensored for Horn Dog tiers and up!

“Make Me A Sword”

I just finished some character illustrations for Jules Revel for their novella “Make Me A Sword,” featuring vampires and fae and swords and dykery. I posted them to my site! These were such a delight to draw, and now I’m going to read the story and think of these illustrations.

Amira (Issue 1) is on itch.io!

In case you missed it, I put the PDF of the first issue of Amira the Van Life Cunt “Amira in Buff World” up on itch.io this month. Check it out! Print copies are available in the shop.

And when you’re done, if you want to read Issue 2 “Amira in Barrel’s Bottom” you can on Patreon and Substar. Print copies coming soon! (Like, September 25th maybe?)

What else did I do this month, hmm…

I’m starting a new porn comic with Aphy Ray! It’s scripted, and in the thumbnailing stages right now. You’re gonna love it. IT’S ABOUT BOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m also doing some work for Nova Mali on upcoming projects. I can’t wait to share with you. You’re gonna love em.

Been having less time at the gym because I’ve been sick, but I picked up Overwatch again. Yeah, I’m back in the fucking building. I’m not any better at this game, and I never will be. Next year will be their 10th year anniversary. Isn’t that wild to think about? Ten years of this game flattening my dick.

Speaking of dick, I had an absolutely wild call from a troll at the print shop. There’s some real assholes out there these days. Be prepared to shut it down and surround yourself with good people and drink wine on the balcony. I’m not worried about this clown, but keep your eyes out and stick up for yourself, your beliefs, and your friends!

In lighter, better news, I finally finished getting my back tattooed. Shout out to Willis at Lombard Street. It’s been all spring and all summer, four sessions, each one taking like 4 hours, but we did it! I’ll go back in for final touch ups later this month. I posted the pic on bluesky so you can see there heh

Here’s some sweet treats for you to check out:

  • My friend Kitty’s bookshop just launched! It’s called Field Day, and you can find signed copies of The Shepherd’s Sword Volume 1 there and nowhere else!

  • My Father Was A Good Man by Adeline Kon. Prince has been re-releasing this comic this month, and man. It hits even harder now, I think. I’ll be doing some fan art for this later this month, so keep your eyes out!

  • Pre-order your copy of Shay Mirk’s book about writing non-fiction comics! It’s called Making Nonfiction Comics. Very factual!

  • “Publisher-to-Publisher Conversation with Glacier Bay Books” ft emuh ruh of Glacier Bay Books and Zachary Clemente of Bulgilhan Press

  • “Libby & Holly” by Winton Kidd is extremely hot. Grown up eyes only!

  • The ghost with the most herself, Kaylee Rowena just did blogust (or blaugust?) and I really enjoyed reading these blog posts!

  • Just started watching Women Wearing Shoulder Pads. It’s SO FUCKING GOOD. The bitchy milf lezzes out with the lady bullfighter in the first episode. And it’s funny, sharp, and the animation is so incredible. The pacing is so fast. You can really tell they’re trying to tell as much story as possible in a medium that is unforgiving and tedious. I dunno, I like that sort of thing. I can relate to it. Also there’s no male characters (so far), another thing I can relate to.

  • Speaking of animation, I watched 100,000 Acres of Pine by Jennifer Wright. It’s short and blood curdling scary. Get ready for spooky season!
