Happy birthday to me and all my fellow Aries

Springtime is MY TIME 🌸🌼🌷🪻

Aries stellium ❤️ I love you!

I have an Aries stellium in my chart and the current mega stellium for Aries, with a new moon, is a great sign. Maybe it’s the stars or maybe it’s just the warm weather returning to the Pacific Northwest, but I’m feeling energized. Let’s go!

Side note: if you had a baby born on April 17 this year, can we be friends so I can be on your baby’s good side in 30 years?

NEW: Your Boot is My Temple

New comic alert!! Your Boot is My Temple (written by Aphy Ray). The boot humping comic riddled with gratuitous panty shots is complete and awaiting cover art. Then, she will be released upon the world. Preview pages are live over on Patreon, and that’s where you’ll get first access to the complete comic!

The Royal Equinox Rager

She’s out on submission right now!! The Royal Equinox Rager is my lesbian knights and princesses graphic novel I’m working on with my bestie Jessica Delphi. Maybe you’ve seen some of the art I’ve been making of these characters on my Instagram, like this one of Sabrina or this one of Jade and Sabrina or this one of Adeline, Cor, and Kale, or this one of Adeline and Ayasha. Clearly, they’re all I can think about right now.

We’re looking for a publishing home for them, but like I keep saying, we’re going to make this graphic novel no matter what. Even if it doesn’t get picked up, this is what I want to be working on more than anything in the world.

Seattle, WA → Juneau, AK

Since we last talked, I went to Chicago for C2E2 (blog post here) and Squatchcon in Port Angeles (blog post already on Patreon, but coming to my website soon). My final events for the spring are at Phoenix Comics in Seattle and the Mini Con in Juneau, Alaska! I’m so excited for both of these. What a perfect way to spend the springtime in the PNW!

Summer events on my agenda include Summer Story Fest, VanCAF, and Portland Pride. It’s gonna be hot, hot, hot!

Comics Progress Report

I’m cooking 3-5 unannounced collaborative projects ranging from illustrations to PROJECTS. After working on Your Boot is My Temple, republishing Invasive Species, and crafting the pitch for The Royal Equinox Rager, I’ve learned how much fun I have when I’m working with someone on a comics project, rather than in isolation. I’m going to keep this in mind as I enter the next phase of my comics career, whatever that means.

But here’s the projects that are announced, and I’ll be turning my attention to them this summer/fall, barring any diversions in the path:

  • Amira the Van Life Cunt. Now that Your Boot is My Temple is complete and the weather is warming back up and I’m seeing everyone in Portland dusting off their vanlife rigs, I’m flooded with scathing, horny inspo. Realistically, I’ll resume work on Amira Miles this June after all my travels.

  • Boyish Girlish. I had a breakthrough on what this project might look like. I’m smiling just thinking about it. That is all :-)

The Shepherd’s Sword

We took a wee 2 week hiatus while traveling for shows. Or, if you’re a free reader, there will be an upcoming 2 week hiatus at the beginning of May. Free readers are about a month behind the early access. But don’t fear, we’re so back, and we’re gonna find out what happened in this creepy fucking basement. Get caught up at theshepherdssword.com

April Mail Club Rewards & Hang Out!!

April’s my birth month, and the theme of this year so far has been all about recommitting to joy and chasing that feeling of why you even started making things in the first place. Baby lambs don’t wonder if they’re leaping good enough or most economically. They just bounce!

On Sunday 26 April at 11am Pacific time, I’ll be hosting another video call! Last month, we ended up talking about Webtoon’s presence at ECCC. We’re curating some really cool vibes in the chat. Curious? Wanna hang? Join the Lucky Tier and you’ll get access to the link.

What else did I do this month, hmm…

I got really into Steel Ball Run (paired with a blog post I’m particularly fond of). I temporarily had big fandom brain moment for about three weeks while I read the manga.

I read House of Leaves, which I really liked. It was quite spooky, like if a research paper was scary and about men’s feelings, which I’m sure hit really good in 2000. It definitely got me creeped out while staying in Carly’s family’s house in Port Angeles, walking to the unfamiliar bathroom in the dark.

Pairing nicely with House of Leaves, I’m listening to Famesick, since I just watched Girls for the first time ever this year (crazy coincidence). I have a lot of complicated feelings about this one, which I don’t think are fit for the internet at large. If you know me in real life, ask me about it lol

I celebrated my actual birthday in Port Angeles with Carly and Eli and Courtney, but also the weekend prior by going up to Seattle for the Bbno$ concert, which was coincidentally during Sakuracon. So I left Seattle during ECCC, and came back and somehow there were still all these cosplayers milling around. I was like, “damn… Do I need to clock in for my shift at the Artist Alley factory?”

It was nice to spend an afternoon with Phia, Jo, and Cas in Cap Hill. I also picked up a cute replacement lamp since mine had just given up the ghost. Whenever I visit Washington, I’m like, “woah.. should I… move here?” and then I buy something and I’m like, “EW. SALES TAX. A SALES TAX SO BIG TO MAKE UP FOR NO INCOME TAX. EW.” And I flee back to Oregon. But I love my Washingtonian friends so much… Sigh!

Now I’m just trying to catch my breath and rest up before going back to Seattle, and then to Alaska! Then I don’t leave Portland again until VanCAF in July. That’s going to be so fucking nice. I love May/June in Portland. Best time of year here, honestly! I hope I’m able to make a lot of progress on my projects, and also get in some park time and hike time. Hope you’re doing well and can enjoy the same <3

Here’s some sweet treats for you to check out:
