Big announcements: new comic, new prints, new shop ✨

Oh yeah… It’s all coming together.

I hope you all had a lovely pride month! Some big projects I’ve been working on have finally been made public, and I’m so stoked to talk about them ✨

Heave and Thaw will be in Boyish² Volume 2

I’m working with Natsuo and a bunch of other amazing lesbians to bring you [Boyish²] Butch×Butch Yuri Anthology[vol.2] 🎉 This anthology has work from 6 different creators, with approximately 160 pages. I’m contributing Heave and Thaw, which is 26 pages of love triangle and trepid yearning.

En (my gf) helped me by thumbing this comic. It’s my first time working with someone on a project like this (where someone draws part of it, makes decisions on layout, etc). I’m really grateful! They have such a good eye for perspective and composition and action. That’s on having a storyboard gf.

The first four pages are free to read on my website. Support the project and get your print or ebook copy (available in English or Japanese!)

PS: The QR code in that boarding pass takes you to the Kickstarter. Isn’t that so cute?

New riso prints in a brand new shop

My shop has gotten a total makeover! Thanks to White Squirrel, who is now managing the shipping and product photography (the two banes of my existence). I’m really grateful to them and the work they do.

In my cool new shop, I have three new riso prints, printed with Outlet PDX. You can see the new product photos below. Also, the online shop is the only place you can get my keychains and enamel pins. (I’m not carrying them to conventions anymore, as my focus shifts to paper goods.)

Mail Club & 18+ for June 2023

For June (and July), I’m testing out my riso prints as postcards. They get companion stickers that fit their whole ~vibe. Join the mail club and get these sweet treats! Even if you miss out on June, July’s will be super good. All mail club treats are printed locally in Portland, OR.

Plus some Wayne for you. Y’all remember Wayne, right? Werewolf, tall, smug. She will return once I’ve completed work on Heave and Thaw, I prommy. I hope this The Shepherd’s Sword smut will hold you until then. (Full image available for Pin Up, Love Letter, and Lucky tiers.)

What else did I do this month, hmm…

Well, I was at Summer Story Fest, which was so fun and sweet. It was put on by Sonny’s House and Outlet PDX, with a Comics Club reading afterward. I got to hear Cam McCafferty read part of their upcoming comic for Shortbox Comics Fair. It’s good, y’all. It’s called Baptism in the Mud, you’re gonna love it.

Summer Story Fest was my one and only tabling event for the summer. I’m very excited to be home in the AC working on stuff and resting at the river.

Oh, and I finished half of my pencils for How Could You!!!!!!! I’m so happy!! If you want to see a few of my pencils and behind the scenes of my first ever graphic novel, you just gotta go to my Patreon for $2+. I post sketchbook updates at the end of every month, which sometimes includes pages and panels I’m particularly proud of.

I’m taking a break from How Could You for a week or two to finish Heave and Thaw. It’s good, I think, to take a break on long projects. Or else I’d get bored. Aries problems.

I also went to trans life drawing, the renaissance faire, a couple pride parties, started picking up our weekly farm share, and my cool coworker came to visit me all the way from Malaysia as part of her USA tour! We went to the Del Toro Pinocchio exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. I realized how much I value seeing process. I’m a freak for artistic process.

Idk, I guess I just feel really alive this month. God bless June.

Here’s some sweet treats for you to check out:

Anyway, gonna go watch Nimona and drink a weird CBD seltzer ✌️

Cheers!

Ren

PS: If you want more content that isn’t in this newsletter, I recommend joining my Patreon for some exclusive work every month like comics, sketchbook pages, spicy drawings, and some mail rewards!
